The New Cool:
Spalding Rockwell

By Kelly Killerman

Spalding Rockwell posesses all the necessary ingredients in their edgy take on 1970's cool. The lines are lean, and the music comes on strong.

This duo of ML Perlman and Nicole Lombardi (both 26) pulled their way to the top of the underground music community and hasn't seemed to have slowed down for the past three years. The secret, they say, is simply loving what they do.

Upon first listening this rock n roll electric full-length LP called "Kate," one finds oneself remembering old songs, contemplating new ones. The music is not pretentious, nor is it even for a moment dull; it is cheeky without being stupid, reverent without preach, triumphant without corn, and hooky without apology.

If you can forgive them for being good looking, this band will rock your world, and then some. Four Stars; One of the strongest debut's is recent memory.
